Welcome to the Four Fathoms, Herne Bay

Drop anchor at the Four Fathoms in Herne Bay - a nautically-named pub in a league of its own.

A traditional bar and restaurant in Herne Bay, the Four Fathoms serves up fine food and drink just a stone’s throw from the sea-front. Fully refurbished in 2016, it combines age-old character with contemporary comfort - making it a unique place to soak up the seaside atmosphere.

Named after the deepest part of the sea in these parts, this is a pub with plenty of depth itself. The stylish bar and cosy snug area invite drinkers to relax over cracking Kentish ales from Britain’s oldest brewer Shepherd Neame, while diners can settle into the airy restaurant and sample a rich, varied menu of pub classics and chef’s specials.

In summer time, it’s all to be enjoyed in a family-friendly courtyard garden - served with a side of fresh sea air.

Visited this lovely refurbished pub today, the roast was lovely, lots of flavour and wonderfully presented. Would really recommend this place for food, especially the roast dinner. Service was good and the new decor looks really great!

Popped in here for lunch after reading in Shepherd Neame newsletter that it had been completely refurbished and is under new management. The place is dog friendly but has separate areas where dogs aren't permitted. The landlady was very friendly and chatty and the bar staff very nice as well. The local beer was very well kept and the food was excellent - fresh, home made and inexpensive. It was just a lunch but we were really impressed and would really recommend the place just for a drink or for lunch or dinner.
