Welcome to the Four Fathoms, Herne Bay

Named after the deepest part of the sea in these parts, this is a pub with plenty of depth itself.

A historic pub the Four Fathoms serves up fine food and drink just a stone’s throw from the sea-front. Fully refurbished in 2016, it combines age-old character with contemporary comfort - making it a unique place to soak up the seaside atmosphere. The Four Fathoms sets itself out to offer a unique experience with a team obsessed with fantastic food, fantastic beers, wine & spirits and above all delivering a fabulious experience to its visitors.

The stylish bar and cosy snug area invite drinkers to relax over cracking Kentish ales from Britain’s oldest brewer Shepherd Neame, while in summer time, it’s all to be enjoyed in the lovely courtyard garden - take in the wonderful fresh sea air in the sheltered surroundings.

Customers can eat where it pleases them; in the bar or in the beautifully furnished airy restaurant area and sample a creative menu insired by the great British pub classics and the chef’s favourite food memories from around the world.

You should always have high expectations on the quality of food, but always expect to be suprised.  We think food should be both fantastic and fun, and partnered with award winning ales, on trend lagers, beers from around the world and a wine list that would not look out of place in a michelin star restaurant (without the michelin prices!) we are convinced your visit will put a smile on your face.

Visited this lovely refurbished pub today, the roast was lovely, lots of flavour and wonderfully presented. Would really recommend this place for food, especially the roast dinner. Service was good and the new decor looks really great!

Popped in here for lunch after reading in Shepherd Neame newsletter that it had been completely refurbished and is under new management. The place is dog friendly but has separate areas where dogs aren't permitted. The landlady was very friendly and chatty and the bar staff very nice as well. The local beer was very well kept and the food was excellent - fresh, home made and inexpensive. It was just a lunch but we were really impressed and would really recommend the place just for a drink or for lunch or dinner.
